Burundi Kibingo natural - espresso roast
Burundi Kibingo natural - espresso roast
RECOMMENDED PREPARATIONS: Espresso, Milk Drinks, Bialetti
Our latest natural espresso comes from Burundi, a country cultivating mainly Red Bourbon and working with a system of smallholder farmers who deliver the cherries of their 250-300 trees to a local washing station, in this case Kibingo Washing Station. The washing station not only acts as a buyer of the cherries, the farmers also can obtain fertiliser from composted coffee pulp as well as low-cost, subsidised coffee seedlings to renew their old stock.
Coffee cherries are selectively handpicked and delivered to the washing station where they are floated to ensure quality and after another sorting is dried slowly on raised beds for 3 to 4 weeks. After milling, the coffee is sorted and UV screened again to ensure zero defects and thus really high quality.
In the cup, it really shows the strawberry-fruity notes underlaid by vanilla and caramel. You may also find hints of pineapple, coconut and banana whilst enjoying its full body!
