Freshness in coffee is a thing everyone seems to be talking about. Very often though it is rather unclear what's really meant by the term "freshness". What do we really mean by coffee being "fresh" and which value do we ascribe to this term?

Fast forward to 2014 and we opened Benzin & Koffein in Zurich. We had travelled the US West Coast from north to south and had done a few events throughout the summer of 2013.

Moving on two years from our initial coffee inspiration in Hawaii - remember: we wanted to make coffee a fun affair in Switzerland - we started having serious thoughts about making fun coffee happen at the end of 2009.

We travelled to the Big Island of Hawaii in October 2007 to participate in the Ironman World Championships held in Kailua-Kona. To be a bit more precise: Simone taking part and Denise cheering and supporting. Little did we know that we were headed straight for a coffee origin but we were soon to find out.
