Looking Back Part 5 - The B&K Years

Fast forward to 2014 and we opened Benzin & Koffein in Zurich. We had travelled the US West Coast from north to south and had done a few events throughout the summer of 2013. Once again we gained inspiration of a different kind of coffee culture in the Pacific Northwest and felt the demand for a brick-and-mortar specialty coffee place to showcase our coffee on an every day basis.
Together with two partners who were distributing motorcycle accessories we opened a cafe with an integrated shop. You could sip tasty coffee while stocking up on coffee beans and motorcycle accessories like sunglasses, t-shirts or gloves. Six months after opening the cafe, the two partners left and this was at the same time an opportunity to focus more on and push specialty coffee but it also tied us down and left less energy and time to tend to our roasting business.
Through our regular public open cupping sessions we could put specialty coffee on the map of Zurich and also pave the way for some awesome people to open their own fantastic business. We decided to close and sell B&K in the summer of 2016 to focus solely on the roasting and growing the roastery.
